Naturopathic Medicine
ABOUT
Health Advice is Everywhere. Personalized Answers start here.
You don’t need another generic diet, random supplement list, or automated search query. You need a clinician who listens to your full story, interprets your health data, and builds a safe plan tailored specifically to you.
Having health information isn’t the problem—knowing what applies to you is. At Kleinburg Integrative Health (KIH), our Naturopathic Doctors bridge the gap between “normal” lab results and actually feeling well. We combine modern diagnostic thinking with natural medicine to help identify what may be contributing to your symptoms and build a plan to help you feel like yourself again. Healthcare should be about more than determining whether you meet the criteria for a diagnosis. We help you understand why you may not feel well, what deserves further investigation, and what you can do to improve your health now and over time.
PRIORITY PATIENT PATHWAYS
What Are You Trying
to Figure Out?
Health concerns rarely fit neatly into a single category. Start with the problem you are experiencing, and let us help you determine what may be contributing to it.
WEIGHT & METABOLIC HEALTH
“I’m eating well and exercising, but my weight won’t budge.”
Understand how hormones, thyroid, sleep, and blood sugar impact your weight.
FATIGUE & LOW ENERGY
“My blood work is ‘normal,’ so why am I exhausted all the time?”
Investigate iron status, thyroid markers, stress, B12, and cellular energy.
WOMEN'S HEALTH & HORMONES
“I don’t feel like myself—could this be perimenopause?”
Navigate sleep shifts, mood changes, hot flashes, and hormonal transitions.
DIGESTIVE HEALTH
“I’m constantly bloated, uncomfortable, and confused by restrictive diets.”
Uncover what is driving your bloating, reflux, constipation, or food sensitivities.
BLOOD WORK & LAB INTERPRETATION
“I have my lab report, but no clear plan for what to do next.”
Transform lab numbers into an actionable, personalized health strategy.
PRIORITY PATIENT PATHWAYS
Information vs. Clinical interpretation
Why work one-on-one with a Naturopathic Doctor when you can look up health information online? Information can tell you what might be relevant. Your ND helps determine what is relevant for you.
The KIH Naturopathic Care Strategy
Clinical Context: Listens to your complete health history, lifestyle, stress, and overlapping symptoms.
Clinical Interpretation: Reviews results in the context of your symptoms, health history, medications, previous results and other relevant markers—rather than looking at a single number in isolation.
Safe, Individualized Plans: Recommends or prescribes evidence-informed therapies tailored to your clinical picture, goals and history.
Ongoing Relationship: Monitors your progress, adjusts treatment as your body changes, provides ongoing support, and helps keep you accountable.
Lab Reports: A lab report can tell you whether a result falls within a reference range. It cannot, by itself, tell you why you feel the way you do. We look at blood work alongside your symptoms, health history, medications, previous results and other relevant markers to determine what deserves attention and whether further investigation may be helpful.
Online Searches & Generic Advice
Broad Aggregation: Delivers generic health facts and overwhelming symptom lists.
Standard Test Ranges: Treats lab markers in isolation, declaring anything within a broad range as “normal.”
One-Size-Fits-All Solutions: Suggests trending supplements or blanket, restrictive diets.
Static & Unmonitored: Leaves you to figure out implementation, safety, and troubleshooting on your own.
HOW WE WORK TOGETHER
Our four step process
Your initial 60 to 90-minute consultation is dedicated to listening. We examine your full health history, diet, sleep patterns, stress levels, environmental exposures, and current medications to see the complete picture.
Step 1: Deep-Dive Assessment
Longer appointments give us the time to understand the full picture, not only your main complaint, but the symptoms, health history, medications, lifestyle factors and health goals that may help explain what is happening.
Step 2: Targeted Investigation
We review the information you already have, including blood work and medical reports, then determine whether anything else is worth investigating. Additional testing is recommended only when it is likely to add meaningful information or influence your care.
Step 3: Individualized Strategy
We build a safe, prioritized care plan tailored to your daily life. This may include evidence-informed dietary shifts, targeted natural therapies, lifestyle adjustments, bioidentical hormones, or in-clinic treatments.
Step 4: Ongoing Care & Adjustment
Health isn’t static. We schedule regular follow-ups to review how your body is responding, interpret repeat lab work, troubleshoot roadblocks, and refine your plan as you progress.
Modalities as clinical tools
Comprehensive Therapies, Applied to Your Strategy
Naturopathic therapies are not standalone fixes—they are clinical tools used strategically within your personalized plan. Depending on your assessment, your care may include:
Clinical Nutrition & Lifestyle Medicine: Sustainable, evidence-informed dietary recommendations that fit your routine without unnecessary, long-term restrictions.
Targeted Botanical Medicine & Natural Supplements: Professional-grade natural remedies carefully screened for safety, proper dosing, quality, and potential interactions with prescription medications.
Bioidentical Hormone Therapy (BHRT) & Thyroid Support: Advanced hormone management prescribed within scope when clinical assessment and lab testing indicate a clear need.
Targeted In-Clinic Therapies (IV & Iron Infusions): In-clinic therapies recommended and administered when clinically appropriate following an individualized assessment.
Acupuncture & Physical Therapies: Used strategically to regulate the nervous system, reduce stress, manage pain, and support metabolic health.

NARRATIVE BIO
With more than 21 years in practice, Dr. Susan Slipacoff has developed a particular focus on midlife women’s health, helping women navigate the intersection of perimenopause and menopause with energy, weight, thyroid function, iron status, metabolic health and cardiovascular risk. Her approach looks beyond isolated symptoms or individual lab values to understand the broader clinical picture and help patients identify what deserves attention, what may require further investigation and which steps are most worthwhile to prioritize.
As a mother of three and clinic owner, Dr. Slipacoff understands first-hand the demands of balancing work, family and the many responsibilities that often leave women putting their own health last. This perspective has shaped her belief that supporting a woman’s own energy, resilience and wellbeing can help her feel more like herself and show up more fully in both her personal and professional life.
Her background in kinesiology, CanFit Pro personal training, medical acupuncture, sports medicine and injury management also shapes the way she incorporates movement into treatment plans. She helps women tailor exercise to their stage of life, stress load, recovery capacity and health goals, with particular attention to maintaining muscle, strength and metabolic health through peri- and postmenopause.
Outside the clinic, Susan enjoys spending time at her cottage, travelling, horseback riding, water skiing, snowboarding, hiking, playing the piano and reading. She also has a passion for food and dining and enjoys exploring new restaurants and places both close to home and while travelling.

Naturopathic Medicine
Frequently Asked Questions
How is naturopathic care different from the care I receive from my family doctor?
Conventional and naturopathic medicine can play different but complementary roles in your healthcare.
Your family doctor and specialists are essential for diagnosing and managing disease, prescribing medications, coordinating investigations, and providing acute and ongoing medical care.
Naturopathic appointments often provide additional time to explore the broader picture—including symptoms, nutrition, sleep, stress, hormones, digestion, medications, lifestyle, blood work and long-term health risks.
That extra time allows us to ask a different set of questions: What may be contributing to how you feel? Are several symptoms connected? Is there additional information worth investigating? What can we do now to improve your health and reduce future risk?
Our goal is not simply to manage disease once it appears. We also focus on prevention, health optimization and helping patients function and feel as well as possible.
When appropriate, we review existing medical testing, recommend additional investigation within our scope, collaborate with other healthcare providers, and develop an individualized plan that evolves as your health changes.”
Reason: This keeps the message collaborative and respectful of conventional medicine while making it clear that naturopathic care adds meaningful clinical value rather than functioning merely as an optional supplement to the conventional system.
Will my extended health insurance cover naturopathic visits?
Yes, most extended private health insurance plans in Ontario offer coverage for consultations with registered Naturopathic Doctors. Check with your insurance provider to confirm your specific coverage details.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please bring any recent blood work or diagnostic reports from the past 12–24 months, a list of all current prescription medications, and any natural health products or supplements you are taking.
